3rd - 18th AUGUST 2019

Why is it called Summer Trifle?

We could think of no better word than Trifle to describe this wonderful mixture of arts, crafts, open gardens, entertainment and cake (yes, there will be cake... and trifle!). Step into the grounds of Pickhams and enter a world of creativity, enjoy talking to artists about their work, take part in the workshops covering health, arts, crafts, music and literature and be entertained with live music and comedy and drama performances.

Wander around the enchanting, hidden gardens of Pickhams in Wilmington. Once a formal gardens, the years have matured the evergreens, weeping willows and silver birches to create secret, shaded enclosures, a perfect setting for garden sculptures and art installations. Ivy covered walls, a pond, pergola and secret walled garden all add to the charm.

Entrance is free to the gardens and the exhibitions and to some of the events. Tickets are available for live music and drama productions and all workshops must be booked in advance.

We do hope you enjoy your visit and will come back and visit Pickhams for future events.

Summer Trifle 2017

Children - are very welcome but must be accompanied at all times. Warning: there is an unfenced pond. The garden walls, structures, sculptures and art installations are NOT suitable for climbing on or playing near. No ball games please. Damages will need to be paid for.

Dogs - well behaved dogs on leads are welcome - please clear up any mess.

Safety - although we have done our best to ensure the safety of all visitors, the gardens contain many crazy paving pathways which are, by nature, uneven so please take care. There are a few small steps and the lawned areas and field are uneven in places. We have deliberately left areas of the field to grow wild to encourage wildlife. Please do not pick any flowers or take cuttings from plants.

Access - if you are coming by car, there is field parking on site including some disabled parking spaces by the field marquee. All vehicles are parked at your own risk. Disabled access is limited in a few areas in the gardens due to steps. Hayreed Lane is a single track, no-through road. Drive slowly and be prepared to give way - please be considerate of our neighbours' driveways and verges.

Courtesy bus - Saturday 10th August 2019 only.
